It’s week 2 of our blog series featuring what different Hatch gals are up to at home. Here’s what’s on our friend Jessica’s radar:

Listening (playlist and/or podcasts):

Recently my brain needed a major break from all of the murder podcasts I had been consuming. Enter the WorkLife Podcast by organizational psychologist Adam Grant. He takes you inside companies that go against the grain and studies how to “make work not suck.” I find the episodes inspiring and they always making me think past the way we have always done things. Topics range from “a world without bosses” to “how to remember anything.” Gilmore Guys will always be me fave podcast.

Eating:

I discovered Tieghan Gerard’s cookbook, Half Baked Harvest, in a tiny book shop in Colorado last summer. As I dove in, I learned that Tieghan is a 21-year-old, self-taught food blogger who has taken off. Her recipes are easy to follow and so delicious! I love following along with her Instagram story recipes. Highly recommend her cheddar pirogies with caramelized onions and bacon.

Morning coffee:

Unfortunately, I have become a coffee snob. I love high quality, fresh ground beans and I make a french press every morning. My new favorite (thanks to Mane Coffee for the discovery) is Methodical’s Pink Lady. When I think about the fact that I get to wake up and drink this in the morning, it makes me want to go to sleep at night so morning will come faster.

Evening drank (non-alcoholic version):

Hatch Gal, Christine Matousek brought me a bag of this chai from her hometown of Portland, OR about 6 years ago. I dream about it all the time and quarantine has awoken my love. It’s 98% decaf so I love having a mug in the evening. It has a hot cocoa type consistency and tastes like a cake batter chai. Not too spicy, not too sweet. I’m so obsessed and have bought so many bags, I’m considering signing up for the subscription service.

Reading:

The new movie adaption of Little Women inspired me to pick up the novel again. I’ve been reading little bits every night and I have all the nostalgic warm and fuzzies from childhood.

Watching:

When I heard about a new television series depicting Jesus’ life that you had to get an app to watch, I was like nahhhhhhhh. The Chosen is so good. Season 1 has eight episodes portraying the backstories of some of the 12 disciples and brings to life stories in the Bible. I love the Biblical accuracy and the liberties they take to add more narrative. I was truly moved by the show and have been telling everyone to watch. You can try Episode 1 on YouTube and continue streaming through “The Chosen” app.

Skincare products you’re using:

I received a sample of IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Gel Lotion Moisturizer. OOOoOooOOoo it feels nice. Highly recommend. I’m also such a fan of CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser. So fresh and doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight.

Recipe you’re trying:

My mom made these biscuits from the Magnolia Cook Book. I tried them this morning and they were so good!
